Reduce the obese and hearth attack trough herbal extract
With an unprecedented level of obesity throughout the western world and the incidence of heart disease associated, cancer and diabetes on the increase, it is an important boost to find new treatments.
Scientists in Germany have recently discovered that the extract of traditional remedy herbal derivatives of Tabebuia impetiginosa (Lapacho pink) may delay the absorption of fat in animal models.
They believe that the extract could be incorporated into a food supplement that not only can reduce the obesity, but also decrease the risk of developing 2 types of diabetes and coronary heart disease.
The researchers presented the results in the Society for Experimental Biology of the annual meeting, held in Marseilles.

Gay and bisexual men warned that they are at risk of contracting LGV
Gay and bisexual men in London have been warned that they are at risk of contracting LGV (lymphogranuloma venereum) which is an aggressive strain of chlamydia that is on the rise in London among this group. In 2009, 135 cases were reported. This figure jumped to 350 in 2010 and is a record number.
Symptoms will include anal bleeding, rectal discharge, pain, inflammation and ulcers in or around the anus. If the infection is not treated problems the infection could cause serious damage. The infection can be cured after a 3 week course of tablets.
It will also increase ones chance of catching other STIs. The only way to prevent against this infection is to use condoms. Latex gloves are also recommended for sexual activity. One of the main causes of LGV is the engaging in sexual activity with multiple partners.
The infection is classed as a chronic infection of the lymph system and 3 different types of chlamydia bacteria are known to be the cause.
Testing for LGV might include a biopsy of the lymph node being taken, a blood test or a chlamydia test.
Like all other sexually transmitted diseases, the only way to avoid becoming infected is to abstain from sexual activity and this is not going to happen in the majority of cases. Chlamydia trachomatis is the cause of LGV and enters the system through cracks in the skin.
It is a relatively new disease and should be treated as soon as it is contracted.
